Benefits of Massage

Massage Techniques

Massage therapists use a variety of techniques that helps the soft tissue/muscle stresses. Long strokes helps warm up the muscles so therapists can work at a deeper level. Kneading is used to separate the muscles, so we can work on a specific muscle and the muscles around it. With other techniques therapists can help sprains, strains, adhesions, and scar tissue heal to a better quality, more range of motion, and increase circulation for a healthier healing for the damaged muscles, ligaments, or tendons.

Chiropractic Benefits with Massage

Chiropractic works on the bones of the body and massage therapy works on the muscles of the body, together they help recovery in many ways. Massage helps chiropractic in the way of if a bone(s) have been out of place of quiet some time then your muscles get use to that position and it takes longer to recover if your just getting chiropractic help. If you get massage with that then the massage will help the body understand that its okay to go back to 'normal' and helping the bone(s) stay in place longer. The massage is usually after the chiropractor so the chiropractor doesn't over adjust the patient.

Components of Soft Tissue Pain

The pain of the soft tissue can refer or seem like more then it actually is. This is because the fascia and muscles are stuck together and become tighter because its trying to protect the muscle in the area that it's in. Over time the fascia and muscles becomes more tight, painful, and inflamed. The muscles and fascia together are called myofascia. (Myofascia acts like noodles that connect your skin to your muscles. When your myofascia gets stuck its like taking the noodles out of the water and putting them in a bowl. Massaging your muscles is like putting oil on the noodles so they don't stick together anymore). Having the myofascia stick can decease circulation and develop adhesions, which prevents muscles from completing the full range of motion. Trigger points can also develop as a cause of this and can get the pain to refer somewhere else. In some of the most sever cases, it can tighten to the point of pinching a never or blood in between the muscles of that area.
